Buying thoughtfully

Build a shortlist before you buy a bottle

A practical sampling worksheet that puts your own experience first.

Choose a question, not a winner

Start with one question: do you prefer a citrus opening, a floral heart or a woody finish? Select a few notes in the finder and compare two or three bottles. Treat the results as candidates to try, not an instruction to buy.

Record the same details

Write down the exact edition you tried, where you wore it and what you noticed at the beginning and later. Keep your observations separate from the source-listed notes. If you do not know a concentration or a performance detail, leave it unknown.

Revisit your shortlist

Return to the comparison and look at what is documented only for each bottle. A missing listed note is not proof that you cannot smell it. Use your notes to decide which candidate deserves another try; our catalogue cannot replace smelling the fragrance yourself.
